Micro and Nano CT V|Tome|X

MicroCT V|Tome|X s 240 by GE Sensing & Inspections Technologies Phoenix X-Ray: A versatile x-ray inspection system for Micro-Computed Tomography (Micro-CT and Nano-CT). The maximum diameter and length of the sample to be scanned in 3D is 200 mm x 400 mm, with a maximum weight of 10 kg. It is highly versatile thanks to the two x-ray tubes by which it is formed: the 240 KV microfocus with detectability values of 1 µm, and the 180 KV nanofocus, with detectability values below 0.5 µm.

Potential Results

The information that can be obtained depends on the application: 1) Diagnosing the state of conservation of a cultural asset (manufacturing techniques, nature of the materials, possible effects of degradation, location and measurement of irregularities or elements, phases that constitute it, etc.); arrangement of the pieces within the concreted block; and realization of digital and physical replicas in Conservation and Restoration. 2) Digital measurement of the dimensions of skulls, bones, etc, without having to deteriorate unique specimens in Paleontology. 3) 2D and 3D morphometric analysis of the dentition (for instance, characterization of enamel, dentin, dentin-enamel junction, and pulp cavity) in Dental anthropology. 4) Study of the anatomy and morphology of the endocranium in fossils in Paleoneurobiology of hominids. 5) Characterization of the raw materials (phases that constitute it) in Prehistoric technology.
