The Science and Technology in Archaeology and Culture Research Center (STARC) of The Cyprus Institute aims to contribute to the study of archaeology and cultural heritage through the development of rigorous, broad research inquiries that foster cross-disciplinary collaborations between the social sciences and the humanities with the natural, material and computational science. In this context, the Center is dedicated to the advancement of scientific applications and technologies through their meaningful and scholarly use with current focal strengths in Digital Cultural Heritage, Art Characterization, Archaeological Sciences, Bioarchaeology and Digital Libraries. Within STARC, the Andreas Pittas Art Characterization Laboratories (APAC Labs) are directly related to the research scope of IPERION HS and as such will be providing the dedicated MOLAB services. The research of STARC is assisted by partnerships and joint activities with leading local, regional and international institutions such as the Centre de Recherche et de Restauration des Musées de France (C2RFM), the Cyprus Department of Antiquities, the A.G. Leventis Foundation, the Leventis Municipal Museum and the Leventis Gallery in Nicosia, the Bank of Cyprus Cultural Foundation, the Israel Antiquities Authority, the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, the University of Cyprus, Cambridge University, Princeton University, and Bibliotheca Alexandrina.
