Pyrolisis-Gas chromatography

Gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) is a powerful analytical technique for separation and identification of organic compounds. It is suitable for the determination of volatiles such as benzene, aromatics, alcohols, aldehydes, fatty acids, and others. Pyrolysis-gas chromatography (Py-GC) is at its base a way of extending the utility of gas chromatography to the analysis of non-volatile materials as during pyrolysis process of these materials volatiles are produced and further analysed with GC-MS. Volatiles represent so called fingerprint of selected material.
